Potentiometer Date Calculator

Potentiometer codes can be a great clue to the approximate date of your guitar, amplifier or effect pedal. Be aware that a pot date by itself only proves when that pot was made, not the actual product. It's not uncommon for a pedal or an amp to have a pot that sat around for before being installed. Generally the higher the population of the product, the more likely the pot date jives with the product date. Also watch the week closely; a pot made in the 51st week of 1972 probably didn't make it into its end product until 1973.

Pot code dating only works if the potentiometer is original, a pot date that is more than ten years off is a sure-fire sign that it is a replacement.

Look on the back of the potentiometer you want dated. There will be a six or seven digit number stamped into the metal (there may be a hypen a space or a period as well). Enter that pot code into the field below and click submit.
